About Pat Rhead-Phillips
Inspiration for my work comes mainly from the organic forms of plants, flowers and natural structures in my cottage garden and throughout the landscape. Birds which visit my garden regularly appear in my work.
Drawing is the basis of my artwork, once I have an idea for a piece of art I begin working a fairly detailed conceptual drawing which I then develop into a painting, drawing or print.
Working with watercolour is one of my favourite mediums. The transparency, luminosity and interaction between pigments is very exciting, helping me form creative and varied concepts for new artwork.
Parallel to my watercolour work is my fascination for printmaking, in particular lino printing and mono printing, which has been the medium for many recently completed artworks.
